The Chaotix, as their names implies, formed quite by accident. When Doctor Eggman stole the Master Emerald for the second time and Knuckles chased him to his newly-built Carnival Island, he allied with four animen who had been the victims of Eggman’s ambitions: Espio the Chameleon, Mighty the Armadillo, Vector the Croccodile, and Charmy Bee. After successfully beating Eggman together, the five animen realized that they worked well as a team, and Knuckles realized that he could use some help protecting the Master Emerald from the tenacious Eggman. Thus the Chaotix were formed. Throughout their history they have gained and lost members, but their goals have always been the same: to protect Angel Island and it’s Emeralds from the machinations of not just Eggman, but any who would steal those gems which keep Angel Island aloft.
Eggman Empire
Leader: Doctor Ivo Robotnik
Headquarters: The Eggman Empire employs multiple headquarters, including their airship, the Egg Carrier; Eggman Shima, their island stronghold; the Veg-O-Fortress, Eggman's production plant; and Eggmanland, Robotnik's personal city.
Notable Members: Metal Sonic, Metal Knuckles, Silver Sonic, E-122 Psi, E-105 Zeta, E-104 Epsilon, E-103 Delta, E-101 Beta, Onyx the Crow, and Shard the Phoenix.

For over ten years, Doctor Ivo Robotnik has been scheming to take over the world. His self-styled "Eggman Empire" is his tool to achieve those ends. It runs entirely on his family’s fortune and thriving business, and is the single most technologically advanced organization, surpassing even G.U.N. Eggman employs as few humans as he can get away with, trusting only himself and his legions of robots, all of which he built himself. From the Death Egg to Space Colony ARK, Eggman has tried and tried to take over the world, each and every time being foiled – usually by a speedy blue hedgehog named Sonic. Though the Eggman Empire revolves entirely around a single individual, their overpowering technological superiority should never be underestimated.
G.U.N. (Guardian Unit of the Nation)
Leader: Commander Colin Robotnik
Headquarters: HQ in Capitol City, although G.U.N. maintains 27 bases scattered across the Continent.

G.U.N. is a human military organized to protect "The Nation" (the human government) from all threats, and to advance its people. G.U.N. is over fifty years old, and was the driving force behind the shutdown of Space Colony ARK and the subsequent imprisonment of Professor Gerald Robotnik fifty years ago. They use a mixture of human soldiers, war machines, and robot minions to enforce their will. Although their scientists subjected Shadow to horrible experiments when they captured him, and indeed their Commander destroyed a good portion of their own patron city trying to kill him, G.U.N. has since fallen to the leadership of more just men, and seeing their resolve, even Shadow himself has joined their ranks.

Within the world of dreams, not all is right. In the shadows of the dream world, a sinister figure schemes to expand his power into the Waking World, and become known as the Lord God. That figure is Wizeman the Wicked, a being of dreams so powerful he has brought the entirety of the Dream World under his control. Two hundred years ago he almost managed to get into the Waking World, but he was defeated by his own Nightmaren creation, NiGHTS. Now he has resurfaced, retaking his throne from the ambitious Reala and once again scheming to find the way to the Waking World, an assortment of new Nightmaren servants at his side.

The Kingdom of Acorn is the only existing government run and controlled entirely by animen. It has a rich history, stretching back over 300 years. In the rapid rise of humanity, the Kingdom of Acorn serves as the counterpart to the humans’ Nation, aiming to protect its people and advance their state of life. Without the force required to wage war against the humans, the Kingdom of Acorn favors a more diplomatic approach, which not all of its members agree with.

HEXAeco Corporation is a prominent manafacturer of chemicals as well as a producer of energy and a leader in several other fields. It is over fifty years old, and is still a force to be reckoned with in the business world today. However, not all is as it seems, and behind HEXAeco's pristine image lies a deadly secret...
In addition to these, there are several individuals who work for themselves alone. The renegade duck Bean the Dynamite, the mysterious figure known as "Ixis Naugus", and the alicorn calling herself Myriad all follow their own agendas apart from all the other factions.
